I was at a recent pop-up doing what I always do—connecting, observing, and showing love to my fellow makers. I saw this business with some stunning packaging and I had to ask: “Where’d you get it?” They said Alibaba. Cool, I thought—then I asked about pricing.

And they said, “Oh, it used to be even better before tariffs.”

But even with tariffs, their price was better than mine.

And here I was, paying a higher rate for U.S.-based printing out of principle (and honestly—fear). Fear of getting scammed. Fear of not hitting MOQs. Fear of not knowing what I didn’t know.

But that moment? That conversation? It reminded me that:

🙌🏽 We don’t have to do this alone.

That business owner didn’t gatekeep. They shared info. Contacts. Even gave me their WhatsApp plug. Just like that.

Here’s what I took away:

Fear will rob you of your profits if you let it.

Community will help you build them back—stronger.

It’s hard being a one-woman show or a micro-business. You wear all the hats. You do what feels safest. But sometimes, safe keeps us stuck.

WAs my fellow entrepreneur Tara reminded me,

“Tariffs? Just taxes. Know your numbers. Plan what you can absorb.”

Complaining won’t change your costs. But action will.
